Fernando Alonso may have struggled in securing the elusive 'Triple Crown' so far but he has refused to give up in his pursuit. The Spaniard only needs to win the Indy 500 after winning the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Alonso has attempted twice to win the Indianapolis 500 retiring in 2017 and failing to qualify this season both in a McLaren car. He won the second part of his Triple Crown bid in 2018 when he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, an event he won in 2019 as well. He also won the Monaco Grand Prix two years in a row, in 2006 and 2007.

Despite finding the win at the Indy 500 hard to come by Alonso is standing resolute, revealing he has no plans of giving up yet.

“I have no intention of giving up. In sport, to get such a special result, you need to try and try again," said Alonso as quoted by Formula Passion.

"And also to fall many times before making it happen. Just as I ran more than 300 races in F1 to win 32, or so as Real Madrid with more than 100 years of history won 13 Champions League to become the most titled team."
