Hamilton: Overheating wasn't an issue for Ferrari and Red Bull

Lewis Hamilton believes Mercedes were the only one of the top three to struggle with overheating during the Austrian Grand Prix as they failed to win a race for the first time this season.

Hamilton finished in P5 after being overtaken by Sebastian Vettel in the closing stages of the race at the Red Bull Ring, whilst Valtteri Bottas was also overtaken deep into the race by Max Verstappen, who eventually took the win.

Both Mercedes drivers felt they had the race pace to match the Ferrari and Red Bull drivers, but the in searing conditions, the team struggled with overheating more.

After the race, Hamilton felt the other teams didn't have the same issues as the Silver Arrows but insisted the weekend wasn't a write-off.

"I don't feel like I have to write off the weekend. I got fifth, and I got points, so we just move on," Hamilton told Sky

"As far as I'm aware, it wasn't an issue for the Ferraris and the Red Bulls, but for us it certainly was a massive issue.

"We had a good pace today, but we just couldn't race, so that's how this track reveals a limitation of our car."
