Mattia Binotto is confident that Charles Leclerc will benefit from the investigation surrounding Max Verstappen and the Ferrari driver, citing the results of the recent Canadian Grand Prix. The Italian did, however, praise the battle between the two young drivers at the Austrian Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen surged up the field after dropping from second to seventh off the line and on lap 69 secured the overtake which gave him the provisional win. The Dutchman made the move up the inside of Leclerc at turn three and forced the Monegasque to run off the track, allowing Verstappen to cross the line in first, a win which looked very unlikely after lap one.

Leclerc was once again cruelly denied after Bahrain earlier in the season but following recent events, Mattia Binotto is confident the result might change.

"It was great racing from Verstappen, there's no doubt, and from Charles," Binotto told Sky Sports F1.

"It has been a fantastic fight on track, but regulations and rules are clear for the moment.

"I think that after Canada, it's not a matter that we should change the approach. The regulation is that causing a collision, forcing a car off track - I think both of these situations were there. So for us, it's under investigation, and we're confident of the result."
