McLaren driver Carlos Sainz, who has to start from the back of the grid, is unsure whether he'll be able to drive himself back into the points, as the Spaniard will have make up at least eight places from where he's starting.

Because of a new power unit that was installed on his MCL34, Sainz had gone over the three power units a car is allowed for an entire season. The penalty is to start from the back of the grid, which is gutting for Sainz, who saw his teammate Lando Norris qualifying in P5.

Looking ahead to the race, in which Sainz will now start 18th rather than 19th. This is because George Russell, who was set to start in P18, is now starting from the pitlane for changing his front wing under parc fermé.

"We're going to try to come back," the 24-year-old Sainz told Spanish outlet Movistar about his chances of getting himself in the points.

"It's not going to be easy. Even though we might have a little bit more pace [than the cars directly in front] it's not like we're a second per lap quicker like the guys at the front, we might have two tenths per lap.

"On this circuit, those two tenths might help to overtake, but whether it's enough to get in the points, we'll see."
