Toto Wolff has insisted the lead Mercedes currently has is not enough to sit back on, following the Silver Arrows' dominant one-two at the French Grand Prix, won by Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton won from pole, leading all 53 laps of the race at the Paul Ricard circuit to extend his lead over his teammate, Valtteri Bottas to 36 points. Mercedes have proved unbeatable in 2019, winning every race and finishing in first and second in 6 out of ten races this season.

Mercedes have a lead of 140 points over Ferrari, who finished P3 and P5 in France, but Wolff doesn't want the team to rest on their laurels.

“There are still thirteen races to go, we can earn 44 points in every race. In total there are therefore 576 points to earn. Then 140 is simply not enough," Wolff told Sky following the race at Paul Ricard.

“We must really get the rules right before 2021. We had a good race in Montreal. Maybe we should make the straight lines a little longer so that we can slipstream more easily."

“I am very happy with the team. Both the chassis and the engine function excellent and Lewis was also very good today. In that regard, this was our best race of the season."
