Renault star Daniel Ricciardo has explained his side of the story on his last lap lunge on Lando Norris, which saw the Aussie go off-track after getting past the teenager before forcing him off track when the 29-year-old rejoined.

It wasn't his only time doing this, though, as he had already had a battle with home driver Romain Grosjean at that very chicane, when he went wide too before rejoining and forcing the other driver into evasive action. Not that he remembers that battle.

"Grosjean? What the f*** was I doing?" he told Ziggo Sport with a big smile.

"I didn't even know I was racing Grosjean," he laughed. "Alright, cool, no worries, excusez-moi."

When asked about that final lap incident, the seven-time Grand Prix winner continued to joke around.

"F*** them all, how does that sound?" he said with his famous smile, before breaking down his side of the story.

"To be honest, all jokes aside, every time I'm braking late and deep trying to make a move, I'm struggling to pull the car up. It's better than the start of the year but I'm still not quite where I was with Red Bull.

"But the thing is; if I don't try, I'm sitting behind him the whole race so I have to try, but when I do try it's sometimes a bit on the limit. I'm obviously trying to keep it on track and not be dirty."

Both Ricciardo and Norris have been summoned to the stewards to explain their side of the incident, with the Aussie potentially facing a penalty for either rejoining the track dangerously or going off-track when making a run on Kimi Raikkonen. Watch the incident back here. To be continued.
