When a driver accumulates 12 penalty points on his super licence, he or she will automatically be suspended for the next race, and Formula 2 driver Mahaveer Raghunathan has reached that point in France after accumulating a whopping nine points in a single race.

In Formula 1, Lance Stroll leads the way with eight points, with Max Verstappen, Romain Grosjean and Sebastian Vettel all having seven points. It's never happened in F1 that someone has been suspended for getting 12 points, although Grosjean did get a suspension after Belgium 2012.

What did Raghunathan do to get this suspension? He ignored a Virtual Safety Car three times during the feature race at Paul Ricard. Doing it once costs you three penalty points, so you do the math.

The Indian driver has only been in F2 for nine races, but this instance isn't the first time he's been in trouble. In Bahrain, he drove past a checkered flag after 22 laps as he'd been lapped, but he kept on flooring it for another full lap. It goes without saying this is very dangerous as the rest of the grid is going very slowly as the race had finished.

In Baku, he overtook an opponent under a Safety Car and ignored the weighing bridge, and he pushed Jack Aitken off the track in Monaco. Maybe, a race to cool down for the MP Motorsport driver isn't such a bad idea!
