Sebastian Vettel continues to believe he was hard done by after the stewards gave him a five-second penalty for cutting a corner whilst leading the Canadian Grand Prix. Ferrari has decided to appeal the decision, the result of which will be announced on Friday.

The stewards call two weeks ago cost Vettel the race as he couldn't gain enough of an advantage over second-placed Lewis Hamilton. With the initial 'heat of the moment' passed by, Vettel continues to believe he didn't deserve a penalty.

"Tomorrow's Canadian appeal? I don't know how it will end. Of course, I have the same opinion I had two weeks ago," Vettel said at the Paul Ricard circuit today in an interview with Gazzetta.

The result of the appeal is expected to come through on Friday afternoon as sporting director Lauren Mekies will discuss the matter. For now, the Ferrari driver is playing the waiting game while he talks through his opinion.

"We will have to reopen the case and see if we can re-discuss the judgment. I didn't stop after turn 3, I changed the braking point according to the need to save fuel and recover energy for the batteries. I tried everything to stay on track, it wasn't easy to overtake me and Lewis kept making hairpin locks," Vettel added.
