As previously reported, this weekend will be a hot one in Le Castellet for the French Grand Prix, and according to Auto Motor und Sport, this will mean Red Bull Racing and Ferrari will have a chance of closing the gap to Mercedes.

Something Red Bull and Ferrari have struggled with this season, compared to Mercedes, is getting the tyres in the right temperature window. The thinner tyres this season have fitted on the W10 like a glove, which is one of the reasons the Silver Arrows have been so dominant this season.

However, the high temperature in France could prove an advantage from a Red Bull or Ferrari point of view.

Auto Motor und Sport report no team will have problems getting their tyres heated up, with temperatures increasing up to 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). That's the hottest it's been at any venue so far this season.

In addition, both Ferrari and the Bulls are bringing updates to their respective cars to Paul Ricard.

The Scuderia have updated their front wing concept among other things, while Honda are providing Red Bull with a new, more powerful spec of their engine. Still, AMuS see Mercedes as the clear favourites for the weekend. With seven wins in seven races, it's hard to disagree.
