McLaren CEO Zak Brown reckons there has been "a lot of changes" this season already for the Woking-based side after the opening seven rounds of the season has brought significant improvement to the team.

There have been changes to the backroom staff - most noticeably Andreas Seidl being appointed the new team boss. James Key signed for the team from Red Bull as well and Brown believes although the team do not possess the "fourth fastest" car, they are doing excellently to even be around the "Best of the Rest" category.

"A lot of things (have changed)," Brown said, as quoted by GrandPrix247.com"The team is doing an excellent job. We don't have the fourth fastest car, more like the sixth fastest, but our pit-stops, our strategy, our reliability and our drivers have been very good, while others helped us with their own mistakes."

After a third of the season, McLaren have almost half of its tally from last season (30 points already, with 62 scored last season). So, when asked what has changed since the winter, Brown replied: "One word: focus! I told our team manager that I wanted better pit-stops this year; that we meet deadlines; that we were the first car on the track for testing. We now have a clear, more traditional F1 structure.

"We have also improved our pit-stop equipment and routines. Everyone knows what he has to do, everyone has improved. In recent years, a mentality had crept in: The car is not the best, why must we be the best?"
