Steiner confident teams won't prioritise 2021 insisting "you learn every year"

Guenther Steiner has emphatically shut down the idea that teams could favour development for the 2021 regulation changes over the 2020 Championship, admitting: "Whatever you do, you learn every year".

It was confirmed yesterday that the deadline for the confirmed regulation changes for the 2021 season had been delayed until October. The changes set for two years time are supposed to be Liberty Media's first big impression on the sport having bought the brand in January 2017.

A cost cap was brought forward to commence in 2020 but the rest of the rules are yet to be set in stone.

Haas boss, Steiner is confident teams will not focus too heavily on the big changes and won't put it above the 2020 season on their priority list.

"Nobody will do that. I don't think there will be a team that says 'we won't do anything in 2020 to optimize our car for 2021'," Steiner said as quoted by GP Today.

"Whatever you do, you learn every year.

"I don't know how many people will focus on 2021, but there will be a number with us.

"It will be different for everyone and we will see who comes out best."
