As always, the tyres have given Formula 1 fans, journalists and teams plenty to talk about during the 2019 season. Mercedes seem to be the only team to have mastered them, while Haas has significantly struggled. But boss Mario Isola says no change requests have been made.

The thinner thread was introduced this season to reduce blistering and overheating. With Mercedes maintaining a 100% record in 2019, suggestions have been made to go back to the 2018 compounds.

Both Ferrari and Red Bull made those suggestions during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend while Lewis Hamilton said: "we need better tyres" to make F1 more competitive. However, a few boxes need to be ticked before Pirelli change the tyres.

If there is a safety concern, the tyres will be changed. The FIA can request a sudden change, but 7 out of 10 teams must make a request if the teams want to make an alteration. Isola told Autosport that no teams have made requests.

"I didn't receive any request so far. If I receive a request that is reasoned, we will consider that request. We will consider what we have to do to modify the tyres, and we will discuss that with the FIA," Isola said.

"We, Pirelli, can modify the construction or the compound, the specification of the tyre, only for safety. Even if I sent a request to the FIA, to be honest, I don't know what to write in that request because I cannot reason any change for safety. There is no safety concern."
