Max Verstappen believes if the front wings on Formula 1 cars were left alone, then the competitiveness in the competition would be even higher.

F1 is often criticised for being too one-sided, with Mercedes dominating the sport for the past six seasons. The so-called "bigger" teams such as the Silver Arrows, Ferrari and Verstappen's Red Bull, are the top three teams - and are in a different mini-league to the rest of the grid.

With the regulations set to change in the 2021 season, in an attempt to try and produce a more competitive Formula 1; Verstappen has revealed he thinks the constant changing of rules is one of the main issues with F1.

"One team will always do a better job with the rules than the others," the Red Bull driver told De Telegraaf. "In the end, I think it's better if you keep the rules the same for a long period of time, because then everything comes together.

"At some point, you just have to say, 'these are the rules and we will stick to these for the next 10 years', and after five or six years - you will see that it will be really lose together.

"I also think that if we had left the rules alone last year, with the front wings and all that, it would have been closer together now."
