Former Toro Rosso driver Brendon Hartley is set to replace Fernando Alonso at Toyota for the next World Endurance Championship season, with the Kiwi having one 24 Hours of Le Mans already in 2017.

Hartley might not have set the world alight in Formula 1 when he joined Toro Rosso alongside Pierre Gasly at the end of 2017, but the 29-year-old is elite over long distances.

He's a two-time WEC champion with Porsche in the LMP1 category, as well as winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017 in dominant fashion. The latter is what convinced Toro Rosso to hire him.

Hartley has already tested the #8 Toyota earlier this month and at Spa Francorchamps, meaning the transition into the Japanese team alongside Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima should be smoother.
