Kimi Raikkonen says Alfa Romeo was "far from perfect" during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. The Finn struggled to a 15th place finish on Sunday having been out-qualified by teammate, Antonio Giovinazzi.

The Finn was critical in the aftermath of another disappointing weekend for the team, having looked stronger during Friday running and once again losing pace compared to others as the weekend went on.

Speaking after the race, Raikkonen admitted the team was not up to standards, explaining the Swiss outfit had lacked consistency from the first lap of the weekend.

“It was a pretty difficult weekend,” Raikkonen told Finnish newspaper, Ilta Sanomat.

“We never had enough speed and the car was far from perfect. On some laps it seemed better, sometimes worse, there was no consistency.

“Whether it’s 12th or 13th, I don’t care if I get to the finish or I’m last,” he added.

Raikkonen also added he hoped the new parts the team is bringing to the car would help them recover their early season form but acknowledged there was work to be done in order to get there.

"We have work to do and we also will get new parts and this should help us to get back into the fight for points.”
