Max Verstappen may split the two Ferraris in the Drivers' Championship but the Red Bull Racing man is maintaining his focus on staying consistent and gradually improving the car as the season goes on.

Verstappen has impressed at several races this season finishing on the podium in Australia and Spain and has never been beaten by both Ferrari's so far in 2019. At the latest race in Monaco, the Dutchman pushed Lewis Hamilton all the way to the finish line before a five-second time penalty for an unsafe release eventually cost him a place on the podium.

Verstappen's consistency is something that has stood out this year and he admitted to Motorsport that is all the team can do: "Hopefully we can start the fight with a slightly better balance and some updates.

"We just have to stay consistent and hope that we will soon get what we have shown in recent years that we are capable of doing so and can improve more than the rest."

Although the Mercedes are streaks ahead of the rest of the field, the 21-year-old has also spoken about the pace of their nearest rivals, Ferrari.

"Ferrari is terribly fast on the straight, especially in qualifying it will be difficult to beat them," he added.
