Racing Point boss Otmar Szafnauer remains confident in his team as they struggle to produce positive results in Monaco.

Sergio Perez achieved his usual season highlight in Baku, but the team have been performing below their target since upgrades arrived in Barcelona. They currently sit below McLaren but top the tight midfield congestion.

Last weekend, both Perez and Lance Stroll could only qualify in P16 and P17, with Stroll being beaten by Williams driver George Russell. Looking ahead to the next race in Canada, Szafnauer believes they've learnt lessons from Monaco and will use these to squeeze out better results in Canada.

"Our expectations were definitely higher, and once we got it wrong in qualifying, it was very hard to recover. We know what went wrong in qualifying, and hope we'll have a good fix for it in Canada. It's all in the tyres," he told Motorsport.com.

"We just have to learn. Even Mercedes, as you saw, they almost lost it due to the tyres. We'll get there, I have no doubt. We'll recover, that's what we're good at."
