Magnussen receives time and one-point license penalties

Haas driver Kevin Magnussen has been handed a five second penalty, added on to his time from the Monaco Grand Prix, and has also received a penalty point on his licence, his first of the season.

The Dane has been penalised for an incident with Sergio Perez whilst they were fighting for 12th place on the streets of the principality.

Perez took a lunge into the chicane after the tunnel and looked like he would take the place until Magnussen bailed out of the battle and cut the corner, keeping the position.

The stewards said: "Instead of immediately returning to the track, the driver of car 20 opened the steering wheel, which meant that he also missed the next apex and enabled him to return for car 11 on the circuit instead of next door."

As he finished P12, it won’t make a difference to any points that were scored in the race, with Magnussen suffering another difficult weekend, having started sixth. He has been demoted to 14th after the penalty.
