After coming out of the pitlane during the Monaco Grand Prix, Sergio Pérez almost ran over two marshals during the Safety Car period, as the Mexican luckily slammed the brakes to avoid running them over.

"What was wrong with those marshals?!" Pérez exclaimed over the team radio.

"I nearly killed him! They're okay?"

It was a bizarre incident. During the Safety Car, two marshals had probably just finished clearing debris from Sainte Devote from Charles Leclerc's car and were going back to their stations. Pérez just at that point emerged from the pitlane at had to take evasive action to not run them over, as they were right in front of him.

“I nearly ran over two marshals," Pérez told RaceFans after the race.

“That was really bad. They were just running back and I was coming out of the pits. I had to brake and they were very lucky that I avoided them.”

At the end of the day, the Mexican was just glad the two were okay, as he thought initially he had injured one of them.

“They’re normally very good. It’s obviously safety, at the end of the day it’s most important the safety for the marshals and drivers.”

Pérez finished the race in P13.
