Christian Horner has once again defended driver, Pierre Gasly after his difficult start to life at Red Bull Racing, insisting results are coming after he once again failed to break the top five drivers in Spain.

Gasly finished eleventh on his debut in Australia and didn’t make it to Q3 until the Chinese Grand Prix but his results and form have steadily improved despite retiring in Baku. Last time out In Spain, the Frenchman had to deal with a wing problem which Horner commended him for.

With Daniil Kvyat and Alex Albon performing well for Toro Rosso many have speculated they could make a change at Red Bull, but Horner has continued to back Gasly.

"Pierre continues to get stronger," Horner said in an interview on Autosport.

"His race [in Spain] was compromised in the second half because he picked up some debris in the front wing but he drove a strong race.

"Obviously we want to get him in that fight with the cars ahead now, so every weekend he's made progress this year.

"And I think, in fairness to Pierre, it's starting to come, China was a turning point for him, he had a good weekend in Baku.

"He's followed that up with a very solid weekend in Spain. I think he actually managed [the wing problem] quite well."
