Sainz says crowds will fall if results stay predictable

Carlos Sainz believes that F1 crowds will dip if results in the sport continue to be as predictable as they are right now.

Mercedes have finished first and second in all five races this season, a feat that has never been achieved before in the history of Formula 1, and after three relatively poor races in succession, fans are getting bored already.

Sainz told Motorsport.com: “The crowd is not going to come here to see always the same result, always the same people winning, and we need to see something more.

“And I think we will see, maybe except for Britain where people are crazy for F1, that it’s very difficult to attract people to the tracks when there’s always the same people winning and the same results always happening.

“You know basically what’s going to happen in every race.”
