Chase Carey has explained the reasoning behind Formula One's return to Holland and Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix saying the "the heart and the passion are second to none" at the press event at the circuit.

The race will return to Zandvoort for the first time since 1985 and will be sponsored by Heineken, becoming the fourth race to be sponsored by the brewing company. No confirmed date was announced for the event but Carey did admit the calendar will hopefully be finalised in the next couple of weeks.

At the press conference for the announcement, Carey said: "There are three reasons, one we have incredible history at Zandvoort, we last raced here 35 years ago. We’ve had some of our great races here, some of our great heroes have raced here. It’s a track that is an incredibly important part of Formula 1.

"The passion and Excitement that is here in Holland, Holland is a small country but there is no question the heart the passion is second to none and I think the energy in Holland is just captivating Max Verstappen has obviously helped give another dimension to that but there is just a love for the sport that attracts us here.

"When I go to some of the tracks and see the sea of orange that exists it really is incredibly special.

"We are thrilled to bring a race back to Europe, it’s not a new race because we raced here 35 years ago, but for a generation of fans, it will be a new race.

We are a global sport, half a billion fans around the world and growing and there is no questioning the global nature of the sport and we are incredibly excited to add new races like the one in Vietnam.

"Europe is our home, our foundation Europe is the base on which we built this sport, so to bring the sport back to a great iconic track in Europe is incredibly important to us."
