Mick Schumacher has revealed he does not want to compare himself with any of the current Formula 1 grid, but he only wants to compare himself with his father - seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher.

The pressure on Schumacher from a young age in following his dad's footsteps could be seen as a big burden on a young man's shoulders; but the young German sees it as something he can be very proud of.

Michael Schumacher is the record holder for most F1 world championship wins, with seven in his remarkable career. His son, Mick, has recently signed for the Ferrari Academy - with his father winning five of his seven titles at Scuderia in the 2000s.

"I don't really put myself next to someone who is already in F1, but of course next to my father," Schumacher explained to Sky Sports. "What steps did he take and what did he do differently from the rest? I want to discover what I can learn from that."

Schumacher, who now drivers in Formula 2, after his Formula 3 success last season, has insisted how important it is not to rush and instead take everything "step-by-step".

"It is important to do everything step-by-step, as I did to Formula 2," the young German driver added. "This should be my step for (getting to) Formula 1."
