Romain Grosjean says that fixing Haas' tyre performance issues is the team's top priority ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.

The American team showed a lot of promise at the season-opening round in Melbourne however neither Grosjean or teammate Kevin Magnussen have been able to replicate the speed that was apparent in Australia.

Ahead of this weekend's race in Baku, Grosjean points to the tyre operating window as a key issue still to be solved by the team and that it will be vital if they are to recover their early season pace.

“The grip is going. We have good grip in qualifying. On new tyres, the car is amazing, but when we go into the race, we’re losing the grip and things become a bit more complicated," the Frenchman explained in the team's race preview.

“That’s the problem we’re facing at the moment. It’s probably coming from the way we use the tyres. We haven’t managed to get on top of it yet. That’s our number one priority for the next few races.”

Grosjean will be hoping to create better memories than last year at the same event. During a safety car period, Grosjean lost control of his Haas car and crashed into the barriers, spawning the infamous "Ericsson hit us" excuse.
