Horner: "It is exciting that a new generation is coming to the front"

Christian Horner has highlighted the next generation of talent in Formula 1 as something to get excited about, with many of the hottest prospects in the sport already competing at the top end of the grid.

Max Verstappen has been a revelation since making his first appearance at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, winning five races as well as being the youngest ever driver to win a race. Charles Leclerc has also made an excellent start to his career, with the Monegasque joining Ferrari after just one season at Sauber, and he is already making his claim for the number one spot at the Scuderia.

With Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel in the latter stages of their careers, it is time for the next generation to step up and Horner is excited by this prospect.

"The exciting thing about him is that he will only continue to develop and get better [Verstappen],” Horner told Sky Sports F1.

“It is a good time for Formula 1 with Max, the upcoming talent of Charles Leclerc and hopefully we will see Pierre Gasly in the future, it is exciting that a new generation is coming to the front.”
