Fernando Alonso's testing help was "beneficial for all" at McLaren says Norris

Lando Norris insists Fernando Alonso's presence at McLaren's testing session was a bonus for all involved. Since retirement, Alonso hasn't turned his back on Formula 1 as he continues to help McLaren.

Alonso drove the 2019 McLaren during the Bahrain test, though Norris and Carlos Sainz didn't get much time due to the weather. (Bah-Rain!) Though the young British driver insists Alonso's input has been helpful.

“It was beneficial for all of us. I think Fernando brought a bit to the table in terms of positives and negatives compared to last year’s car,” Norris said in a conversation with Crash.

“It wasn’t all positive, there were some positives here and there. We’ve got a better understanding of the car and how to develop it, and move it on from there.”

The rain prevented a full program of events, and Norris is left asking for some more time in order to cover everything.

“That was a good thing for all of us to do, and there were some small bits here and there to focus on my driving. But overall there wasn’t as much time as what we’d like to cover everything.”
