Guenther Steiner is hoping for some unexpected luck when the Azerbaijan Grand Prix comes around with the Haas team prepared to struggle with their tyre issue once again in Baku.

Kevin Magnussen started the season in Melbourne with a sixth-place finish but the team have been unable to build on that and have not scored any points since. Both drivers have struggled with warming their tyres and the issue was particularly prominent in Bahrain where Romain Grosjean retired and Magnussen finished P13.

“You always expect the unexpected, but we need to get lucky at some stage because, up until now, we haven’t had a lot of good luck,” said Steiner in an interview on Fi.com

"Hopefully, if something should happen, we’ll be in a good position and can get something out of it in a good way for us.”

Despite Steiner being resigned to luck in Baku, he did reveal the team are working on the issue.

“Baku will be another difficult event for us because of the long straight and the slow, low-energy corners.

“Hopefully some of our solutions will work, which we’ve been working on since the test in Bahrain – to get the tyres into the window.

"Otherwise, Baku could be another difficult circuit for us.”
