Lewis Hamilton recorded his sixth victory at the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday morning, and the five-time and reigning world champion believes his change of driving style helped the dominant display in a Mercedes one-two.

Mercedes have secured three consecutive one-two victories at the start of this 2019 Formula 1 season, with Hamilton coming out on top on the last two occasions, with Valtteri Bottas winning in Melbourne.

Hamilton's win on Sunday was pretty straightforward, after passing Bottas at the beginning of the race, and never looking back once ahead. But the world champion's overall weekend was far from simple.

"Through the weekend, the car's really not liked how I drive at this track," Hamilton explained. "I was always really quick here and my aggressive driving style worked really well, and then I used that in the last two years and the tyres would not allow it and the car would not allow it and I seemed to have lost a lot of performance.

"I really had to be quite dymamic to change my natural driving style, shift it to a different way. I only really got there at the end of qualifying, and then in the race, it was a little bit back to what my normal driving style would be, so once I got into the lead, I was able to maintain position and do what I do."
