Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen wasn't happy with the way his RB15 behaved on Friday in China during the first two practice sessions, with tyre degradation being an issue for the Dutchman.

Verstappen did finish fourth and third in FP1 and FP2 respectively, leaving many people to think Red Bull are on par with Ferrari and Mercedes.

The Shanghai International Circuit has always been a good one for the Bulls, with their first ever win as a team coming there, and with Daniel Ricciardo winning last season's race.

Still, Verstappen remained critical of the RB15, and the tyres in particular.

"The tyres are pretty weak, they degrade quite a lot the softer compounds," the 21-year-old told Sky Sports F1.

"So it's not really nice to drive. You're really just managing tyres."

With the Bahrain Grand Prix not going according to plan as Verstappen finished outside of the podium places, the five-time Grand Prix winner thinks Red Bull will come back stronger in China.

"I think we were all quite confident that if we could solve that [set-up issue in Bahrain] it would look already a lot better and I think that showed today, it's not too bad."
