Ahead of the 1000th race in Formula 1 history, Ferrari star Sebastian Vettel shared his favourite moment in the 69-year-history of the sport as we prepare for Sunday's race in Shanghai.

"There are so many races to choose from," Vettel told Speedweek.

"The first race I can remember is Ayrton Senna's first victory. I think it was 1991 and he was really exhausted because he'd lost a few gears during the race. He couldn't even lift the cup after the finish.

"I was three years old, so I can only remember vaguely."

That's probably the case, as Senna's first victory was back in 1985 at Estoril, not in 1991.

When it comes to his favourite race, the German Ferrari driver chooses the German Grand Prix in 1995.

"The Benetton years of Michael Schumacher were very special for me. Especially when he passed through the stadium section at Hockenheim and you could see all of the German flags.

"After that, I started racing myself," the four-time champion concluded.
