Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg believes Formula 1 car should be harder to drive and lighter, with the plans of the 2021 regulation tweaks being discussed heavily.

Liberty Media (F1's owners) and the FIA introduced some slight alterations in the regulations for this new season, designed to try and make overtaking more prominent and easier.

The most experienced driver on the grid, Alfa Romeo Racing's 39-year-old, Kimi Raikkonen has given the regulation tweaks a proverbial thumps up.

"We can drive a little closer than last year," Raikkonen said to Auto Motor und Sport. "But it's still hard to get past."

However, Hulkenberg believes with the F1 cars the weight that they are, and how easy they are to drive, it will be difficult to change the car's performance too much at the moment.

"The cars now are too easy to drive," the Renault driver claimed. "You hardly make mistakes anymore and you cannot make the difference with courage or skills because everyone is already perfect.

"Where can you make a difference if braking distances are so short? How can you accelerate out of a corner better if everyone can get on the power so quickly?

"Also, the cars are as lazy as tanks when changing direction. We carry too much weight."
