According to Dutch journalist Jack Plooj, if Pierre Gasly is to fail and ultimately be replaced at Red Bull Racing, then Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat could be the driver to replace the Frenchman.

Gasly is only two races into his Red Bull tenure, since his switch from Toro Rosso at the start of the season. But the pressure on Gasly already seems quite high, with team-mate Max Verstappen completely out-performing the young French driver at the moment.

Plooj, who is the Ziggo Sport commentator, believes if Gasly continues the way he has started at Red Bull, then it will only be a matter of time until Dr Helmut Marko looks elsewhere.

Kvyat had an impressive debut in Melbourne a few weeks ago, just finishing in the points (P10) before he dropped a couple of places in Bahrain, finishing in 12th-place for Red Bull's junior side.

"He is almost shaking," Plooj said on the under-pressure Gasly to Formula 1 Cafe. "He has to perform. He's all alone. If he continues like this, we will see Kvyat return in the car anyway."

Kvyat has previous at Red Bull; racing for the team alongside Daniel Ricciardo during the 2015 season, but following an incident in his home race of Sochi, where the Russian collided with Sebastian Vettel, he was demoted back to Toro Rosso.
