In 2014 the Williams finished the championship in third, but since then things have turned for the worse. This season they are a long way off the pace something Claire Williams acknowledges that internal changes are responsible for.

There has been a lot of change at Williams and it is thought that this has not helped the team.

"I came in and took this job in 2013 when we had three years of disappointment, 9th, 8th and 9th in the championship and then we managed to turn things around. 2014, in P3, '15 in P2 and two years in P5 and we wanted to take it to the next level," said Claire Williams to autohebdo.

"We wanted to make sure we didn't slip back so we made some internal changes but we just got it wrong and we hold our hands up to that. There are obviously some factors that are very clear to see and we were very open and transparent about what those factors were that caused the decline."

Williams will look to develop throughout the season and will hope to be more competitive come next season.
