Fernando Alonso has outlined some potential racing paths he could follow, as well as completing the triple crown at Indy 500 but has insisted his testing session in Bahrain is "not for fun".

Alonso retired from F1 in 2018 but has already been linked with a return to his former team McLaren after he signed on in an ambassadorial role in February. The Spaniard has won the Monaco Grand Prix and Le Mans 24 hour race meaning he has two parts of the triple crown.

Speaking on the past, present and future of his career Alonso said: “I’ve been very competitive for many, many years in Formula 1, luckily enough to win championships.

“Even my last season was probably the strongest with 21-0 [qualifying record] to my teammate [Stoffel Vandoorne], things that I have never done in my career.

“And now winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, winning Daytona, winning Sebring, hopefully being competitive in the Indy 500, and some other things that I can do outside maybe the asphalt is something that probably has no precedence in the sport."

The Spaniard has been testing for McLaren in Bahrain this week but he insisted it is not just for fun: “I’m looking for the challenges, It’s not to have fun.”
