Over a decade ago, Fernando Alonso was battling Michael Schumacher for the world title in a titanic duel. This week, he shares the track with Mick Schumacher, Michael’s son.

Mick will make his F1 test debut with Ferrari, after joining their young driver programme earlier in the year. He made his F2 debut last weekend in Bahrain, scoring points in both races, and has stayed at the circuit to take part in the test.

He will drive for Alfa Romeo tomorrow and should get a good feel of what an F1 car can do.

Alonso will be back in a McLaren tomorrow.

"In my case obviously it's more a test for myself to go back to this driving style, to understand a little bit the car," Alonso said.

"And the limitations of the car, if the tyres allow me to feel the limitation [and] what the limitation is - which part of the corner are we strong, which part of the corner are we weak?"

British pair Dan Ticktum and Jack Aitken will drive for Red Bull and Renault respectively on Wednesday.
