Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto is expecting fruits of his and his team's labour this weekend in Bahrain, as the Italians have worked hard to correct the mistakes they'd made in Melbourne which caused them to be far behind Mercedes.

Both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc finished the Australian Grand Prix outside of the podium places, even though the Scuderia were favourites heading into the weekend.

Heading into Bahrain, Ferrari have a point to prove, and team boss Mattia Binotto hopes the team's amends could be enough to pip the competition.

"In Bahrain, as a team, we will have to ensure that we have understood and rectified the areas where we were weak in Australia, which therefore meant we were unable to fully exploit our car's potential," the Italian told Motorsport.

"In Bahrain, we expect to see the effect of the corrections we have made, although we are well aware that our competitors will once again be very strong.

"With that in mind, we are keen to get back on track and face up to them."

Luckily for Ferrari, Vettel is quite the specialist at Bahrain, with the German the past two editions in the Middle East.

"The Sakhir circuit has very different characteristics to the Australian one, with traction and braking being key factors," Binotto analysed.
