The future of the proposed Miami Grand Prix could finally be set next week. A Miami City Commission vote could set or sink the project, one which Liberty Media is keen to get off the ground.

Having previously set a 2019 date for the race to take place, the event was postponed after a vote last September, barring the holding of the event due to land ownership issues with Bayfront Park Management Trust.

A statement by the Miami City Commission on the subject of the hosting of the event lists the dates in which Miami would host a Formula 1 race, with the first year on the calendar likely to be 2020 if an agreement is reached.

"The City Commission wishes to authorise the City Manager to execute the Host City Agreement and the Park Use Agreements for the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, between the City of Miami ("City"), the Bayfront Park Management Trust ("Park"), South Florida Racing, LLC. ("SFR") and Formula One World Championship Limited ("Formula One"), in a form acceptable to the City Attorney (collectively, "Agreements").

"The City Commission wishes to allow SFR and Formula One to run the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix from 2019 through 2029 with a fan festival to be held in October of 2018 pursuant to the Agreements."

The vote, set to take place on March 28th, could decide whether the project will be allowed to continue or be dismissed completely.
