Sebastian Vettel believes his team Ferrari have "all the ingredients" to fight a more competitive battle in 2019 for the constructors' championship.

Vettel's Scuderia side were the quickest up until the summer break last season, before a dominant Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes broke the Italian's hearts once again with their performances.

The four-time world champion has played down the speed Ferrari were able to produce in testing, and eventually pointed out that the speed in Barcelona only matters if they can transform it into a proper race.

"Here we don't score any points but at the end of the year there are a lot of points to get," Vettel explained to Crash.net. "That's what is missing. Apart from that, we have all the ingredients for sure.

"At some stages in previous years, I think here and there we did our things and maybe we didn't put things 100 per cent together. So, there's always room for improvement.

"I think we know what it needs but it really matters when we find ourselves in that position again. That's what we are working towards but right now, obviously this week has been good."

Ferrari have a new line-up for the upcoming season, with Vettel being joined by a much more inexperienced but talented driver, Charles Leclerc.
