Max Verstappen has insisted he is "not too worried" about Mercedes and Ferrari's pace throughout the Formula 1 pre-season testing in Barcelona.

Last season's top two were split by just 0.003 seconds with Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel posting the team's fastest times on the final day in Barcelona.

However, Verstappen's Red Bull Racing did not record any times like Ferrari or Mercedes', with the programme being disrupted by Pierre Gasly crashing on the second from final day in Spain.

"They are always going to be quick," Verstappen said to Crash.net. "It's always difficult to say if we haven't done a run like they did but I'm not too worried about it. They are very quick, but I'm happy with what we've done so far.

"The long run pace we had was very promising, but Melbourne is a different track again, different temperatures, so it'll be about finding a good set-up."

Verstappen was also quite upbeat about Red Bull's chances of finding victory in Australia in the opening grand prix of the 2019 season.

"We'll see Saturday (if Red Bull can compete in Melbourne). Hopefully on Sunday, we'll be there," the 21-year-old added. "If we look to the longer runs, it all looks pretty promising. So yeah, I'm looking forward to start racing now."
