Former Force India driver and current Mercedes reserve driver Esteban Ocon has revealed he's happy where he is at the German team, but he's ready to jump into an F1 seat should the opportunity arise.

The Frenchman was forced out of his seat at Force India in favour of Lance Stroll, as the Canadian's father had bought Force India with the condition that his son would take up one of the seats.

That left Ocon without a drive, meaning he's Mercedes' current reserve driver.

"I feel comfortable with this new situation," he told Belgian radio station RTBF.

"Mercedes is a top team who have won many titles in recent years. It's also a team who have supported me for years. I'm still a part of the Mercedes Junior Team."

It seems like Ocon knows his time will come. He'll be licking his lips thinking about Valtteri Bottas's seat at Mercedes, but a potential gig at either Racing Point or Williams (the two teams with Mercedes engines) could be options too, should either team not be happy with one of their drivers.

"Yes, I'm just the reserve driver, but Mercedes is counting on me," the  Frenchman continued.

"I'll be spending a lot of time in the simulator and developing the car as much as possible. If an opportunity comes, I'll take it."
