Grosjean 'not worried' about losing track time due to exhaust problem

Romain Grosjean is not worried about having missed track time due to an exhaust issue. The Haas driver completed only 16 laps today but was able to set a time of 1.17.854. The Frenchman didn't really know what was wrong with his car but was told he would have to wait until it was fixed before he could head out.

“I don’t really know what happened,” Grosjean said to FormulaSpy. “They just came to me at lunch and said we would be late, but not that late. We had an issue, and it took a long time to sort out. Not the afternoon we were after. We’ve lost a lot of track time, which is a bit of a shame but I’ll try to make up for it tomorrow morning. Last taste of the car before Melbourne.”

“All the issues have been different and identified so I’m not worried. Obviously, we’d like to go round and round and not have any issues but small issues can take a long time to be resolved. The feeling is good, the car is good so that’s the main thing.”

“We’re doing our own work and focusing on what we can do. There’s no point in being World Champions of testing. Melbourne qualifying will tell us what the performance is like – we have an idea but we’re just focused on getting the car right. The feeling is good, maybe even better than last year with the car.”

“We’ve made great progress. The general baseline is very good and we are happy with the car’s performance. We haven’t focused on lap time; Melbourne will come and we’ll put everything together for qualifying. We’re learning the VF19 and we’re getting better day after day.”

” I’m looking forward to the first race of the season!”
