Lando Norris insists he'll be able to take his sim racing experience and use it to improve his Formula 1 performances. Last week, Norris paired up with Max Verstappen to take part in iRacing's Bathurst 12 hours.

"There are definitely things you can learn from a strategy perspective,” Norris told Motorsport.com.

“I tend to like the endurance races and I attempted in doing one at the weekend with Max…"

His sim race ended after an early crash from team boss Atze Kerkhof, but the Brit claims the work provided during the set-up will be enough to make him a better driver when he makes his Formula 1 debut next month.

"We go through hours and hours of preparation trying to do setup stuff and, from that side of things, you learn a lot about different cars. A lot of it relates very well back to an F1 car. So you try ride heights, wings, camber, caster, whatever, tyre pressure," he added.

“You are staying involved in all this and knowing what everything does and the combinations of, for example, if you go with this wing you can get away with a bit more lower rear ride height and things like that. Sometimes people don’t know that.”

The 19-year-old will make his first pre-season appearance on Tuesday.
