It has been confirmed that Azerbaijan will continue to host Formula 1 Grand Prix until 2023 after race promoters signed a new deal.

Baku has been on the race calendar since 2017 with Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton taking the victories on those occasions and it has provided some stunning moments, including the memorable clash between Sebastian Vettel and Hamilton.

There was a chance the race would not be held in 2020 with promoters trying to work a better deal but they have now put pen to paper on a deal with Liberty Media which will see the race on the calendar until 2023.

Azad Rahimov spoke about the significance of the contract saying: “This is a truly proud day for all of us.

"The last few years have been a dream come true for the people of Baku as we have seen our race weekend grow from a simple idea into one of the most dramatic and exciting race weekends in F1’s history.

“Already, we have played host to some of the sport’s most iconic moments,” added Rahimov.

Over the few years, we’ve seen some memorable moments at the city circuit from Stroll’s podium to Ricciardo’s triple overtake, are we set for more?
