Colapinto names his F1 idol after points-scoring Grand Prix in Baku
At his second ever Formula One Grand Prix, Franco Colapinto managed to score points for Williams. The rookie, who recently got promoted from Formula 2, also became the first driver from Argentina to score points since the 1982 F1 season. After the Grand Prix in Baku, he also shared a dream came true for him.
After the drivers got out of the car in Baku, Lewis Hamilton, who finished in ninth position, went to shake hands with Colapinto and also Oliver Bearman. The Argentinian finished in P8, after the crash between Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez, and ahead of the seven-time world champion.
On his Instagram, Colapinto wrote the following about the Mercedes driver: "My best moment of the day. How crazy [that was] and what a dream come true to shake hands with Lewis Hamilton after a race together." Hamilton also commented on the youngster's post: "Great drive, well done."
Later in of his Instagram stories, Colapinto also wrote: "It's a dream come true to fight together on track." Then in Spanish, he continued: "Is he your idol? Because he is mine."
