Former Formula 1 owner Bernie Ecclestone has said he would be willing to help Liberty Media should they want any assistance after what has been a turbulent week for those running the sport.

Rumours generated earlier in the week suggested that Liberty Media would be open to selling Formula 1. They soon shut these discussions down, but the F1 promoters association have since openly spoken about how they're not happy without a clear idea on where Liberty Media is taking Formula 1.

And now Ecclestone has said he wouldn't mind giving Liberty Media some support should they come asking for it.

“If people say I should be involved that is up to them. I am an employee of the company and will do what I am told. If they want me to help, I am willing to do so. I don’t want to lie on my deathbed and see the sport I created go downhill,” Ecclestone, 88, told the Daily Mail.
