Sauber F1 boss Frederic Vasseur believes the real work at the Swiss team is only just beginning to start and signifies the importance of the 2019 season for his team.

Since the arrival of Vasseur, Sauber have made drastic changes and consequently improvements - but the ambitious team boss is not yet satisfied with his side's work.

"If you are so low, it is much easier to make progress," Vasseur explained to Motorsport. "Certainly the disaapointing results of Williams and McLaren, because the fall away, making it seem like we have taken a huge step, but that is quite easy when you compare it with the top teams and that is ultimately the goal.

"It's just what you set yourself. If you are four seconds behind, you will of course find the step ahead faster than at the front. At Renault, that was the same at the beginning. Then we also started in the back. The real work starts now with Sauber."

Well, Sauber have a completely brand new line-up ahead of the 2019 season. Antonio Giovinazzi replaces Charles Leclerc, with the Ferrari test driver swapping places with Scuderia's new Golden Boy.

And another Ferrari link - former Sauber driver Kimi Raikkonen returns to the side - with a lot more experience than he left with! Marcus Ericsson's exclusion from the side left the door open for the Finn.
