More than 200 former Caterham employees have been paid after a long period of legal and financial struggle.

Former Formula 1 team Caterham has finally paid some of their employees after legal issues which led to the team failing.

The team went into administration meaning that employees were not paid for work that they had done.

Administrators took over the team and it has been revealed that 216 people have been paid after assets have been sold.

In a statement given to Autosport from the administrators, the payments were described as "good news".

"[It] reflects the years of work performed by the administrators in unwinding the complex affairs of the Caterham Formula 1 companies,"

Many of the assets that the administrators took over had "international aspects and were subject to competing claims that had to be resolved before being realised".

"preferential creditors are entitled to receive the equivalent of unpaid wages for the previous four months up to a maximum of £800 total."

Payments have been made after tax and National Insurance contributions, which have been paid to HM Revenue & Customs.
