Gunther Steiner believes that his team will continue to make progress in 2019 after a positive campaign last season. The Haas team principal said he was confident of another strong year after the team achieved their best finish of fifth in the constructor standings in 2018.

Ahead of winter testing in Barcelona next month, the Haas man revealed he was confident of the progress the team was making at the factory developing their new car. With the midfield getting closer and closer, the development under the new regulations for next season will be as crucial as ever to get off to a positive start.

Speaking to Crash.net, Steiner outlined the aims ahead of the first race in Melbourne and highlighted the importance of carrying on their momentum the team generated in 2018.

“We are happy with our numbers and what we do but with the new regulations, if somebody found something we are not aware of, how can I know that? But I’m pretty confident that we are doing a good job," he said.

“We just need to do a good job like we did last year over the winter and bring a good car, there is no secret. Everyone will be trying to get that position.

“If we do a good job, which I think do, but somebody else does that little bit more, they will be in front and we will have to live with that and just try to get them again. It’s a development race.”
