Szafnauer: More money doesn't mean Racing Point automatically get better results

We're still waiting for a new name, but we expect the new Racing Point/Force India will make a big impact in 2019. Under Lawrence Stroll, they have safety and a solid background full of cash. But Otmar Szafnauer claims more money won't guarantee better results as he looks to find the right plan of action during the winter break.

"I think we have shown how efficient we can be in recent years. We achieve far more results than the competition from fewer resources. Now that we have a lot more finances at our disposal, we also hope to be able to book more results. However, it is not as simple as it seems," says Otmar Szafnauer tells Motorsport.

"We should not want too much, and the main goal remains to maintain the efficiency of the past years. With more resources, you sometimes want to do too much, and that does not work either. It's not easy to resist that, but we'll try it."

Looking ahead to the first race of the season and the boss feels confident his team will be ready to go. They have a semi-fresh look as Lance Stroll moves from Williams to join well-established Pink Panther, Sergio Perez.

''In Australia, we will be where we want to be, and I think we have to manage to perform well. Now at least we get it done to present the car in time," the team boss concludes.
