Maurizio Arrivabene is thought to be replaced as team principal at Ferrari by technical chief Mattia Binotto.

Following months of denial, Ferrari has implemented a major management shake-up after another failed attempt to win the Formula 1 world championship. Maurizio Arrivabene is set to be replaced by Mattia Binotto.

Insiders with good knowledge of the situation have revealed that Ferrari president John Elkann has decided that Binotto is the right man to lead Ferrari in 2019. However, there has not been an official statement from the team.

The change in management has come after a season when management errors were viewed as one of the main reasons Ferrari did not win the world championship.

Having created the quickest car for much of the season, Ferrari failed to capitalise and Mercedes were the team who came out on top.

There were multiple rumours that Binotto and Arrivabene had many arguments as the team tried to end their world championship drought.

Before Christmas Arrivabene said, "The rumours about Mattia are a fake news, put around to create instability in the team," he said.

"It is an attempt to try to create problems where there are no problems, and I do not want to comment on false rumours any more."

Binotto joined Ferrari in 1995 and has been working as Ferrari technical chief since 2016.

We will update you when Ferrari make an official statement.
